Officer Candidates School

Officer Candidates School

"Ductus Exemplo"

Training Command, Quantico, Virginia

Internal Family Day events provide opportunities for the family and friends of candidates to learn more about Officer Candidates School (OCS) from the Commanding Officer. The candidates are also granted liberty for the afternoon and will be free for several hours to show their friends and family around Brown Field (OCS) and the local area.

Family day will begin with the Commander's Motivational Run which is a three and a half-mile formation run that all graduating candidates and OCS staff participate in. As the candidates move one step closer to becoming Marine Corps officers this run serves as a reminder of the importance of building and maintaining the esprit de corps that is the hallmark our Corps.

Friends and family are invited to pre-stage themselves along the run route to cheer their loved ones as they run by. The map below shows the best places to park and watch your candidate.

It is recommended to be parked in one of the designated parking areas no later than 10 minutes before the start time to ensure the safety of the runners and spectators. Those participating in the motivational run should be reaching the turnaround point at about 20 minutes after the start time.

Following the run will be the Family Day Orientation. The orientation is an informal, hour-long presentation led by the OCS Commanding Officer, and provides an overview of officer candidate training and an opportunity to ask questions to the CO. After the Orientation, candidates are granted liberty where they may show their guests around Marine Corps Base Quantico, or otherwise spend time with their guests in the local area. Candidate liberty will secure by company per the schedule below. Please allow plenty of time for the candidates to be aboard Brown Field early.

Guests typically dress casually for Family Day. Restrooms and handicapped parking are available.

Specific dates and times for each training company can be found on our Facebook site at: https://www.facebook.com/pg/USMCOCS/events/?ref=page_internal . You do not need a Facebook account to access this page or its content.
