Michael J. Soltis was born in Albion, Michigan on January 22, 1988. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in August of 2012 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California. Upon completion of recruit training, he was promoted to Lance Corporal and attended Marine Combat Training and the School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton, California. Upon completion of Marine Combat Training, LCpl Soltis attended Basic Finance Technician Course aboard Camp Johnson, North Carolina; earning the MOS 3432, Basic Finance Technician. Upon completion of initial training, he was assigned to II MEF Disbursing, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
LCpl Soltis was accepted into the Enlisted Commissioning Program (ECP) and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in November of 2014. Upon graduation from The Basic School, he attended the Financial Management Officer Course at Camp Johnson, North Carolina; earning the MOS 3404, Financial Management Officer.
Upon graduating from Financial Management Officer Course in June of 2015, 2ndLt Soltis reported to 2d Marine Division for duty as a Budget Officer. In August of 2017 1stLt Soltis deployed as the Budget Officer for Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR). His duties included Program Management, Resource Management, and Certifying Officer for all CJTF-OIR Operation & Maintenance requirements. Upon return, 1stLt Soltis served as the 2d Marine Division Resource Evaluation & Analysis Officer.
In May of 2018, 1stLt Soltis reported to 2d Marine Logistics Group (2d MLG) to serve as the 2d MLG Deputy Comptroller, where he was promoted to Captain. During his time at 2d MLG, Capt Soltis completed the Expeditionary Warfare School Blended Seminar Program.
In January of 2019, Captain Soltis reported to Financial Management School, Camp Johnson, North Carolina, for duty as the Operations Officer and Officer Instructional Section (OIS) Officer in Charge. As the OIS OIC, Capt Soltis was responsible for the Financial Management Officer Course and Appropriation Law Course.
Capt Soltis graduated from Central Michigan University in 2010, where he earned his Bachelors in the Science of Business Administration, majoring in Accounting. Captain Soltis’ personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Joint Service Commendation Medal.
Capt Soltis is married to Padgy Soltis. They have two sons, Michael and William.
