COMMANDING OFFICER'S EQUAL OPPORTUNITY POLICY STATEMENT

Discrimination  is the illegal treatment of a person or group based on age, color, gender, race, religion, or national origin.  Sexual harassment is a form of discrimination that involves unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature.  Discrimination also includes persons condoning, ignoring, or failing to correct negative and hostile working environments, where one or more of the discriminatory factors mentioned above is present, during the performance of their duties.

Discrimination is a breakdown of our core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment, thus degrading WHO we are as Marines and Sailors, and violating the TRUST that is vital to our success.  As such, I have ZERO tolerance for any form of discrimination.

Every member of the Field Medical Training Battalion-West (FMTB-W) staff is a leader and should strive to resolve instances of discrimination through the Informal Resolution (IRS) process.  It is the most efficient and expeditions means to quickly resolve such events and prevent the erosion of trust within our command.  If a member chooses to utilize the formal complaint process, they may notify anyone within the chain of command.  The Command Equal Opportunity Representative can provide guidance to complainants as needed. I absolutely will not tolerate reprisal or intimidation against any member for filing a complaint.  Any member of our command who practices or condones any form of discrimination, fails to report, or falsely reports such a violation will be subject to disciplinary action.

You are Marines and Sailors of the United States Armed Forces who share common core values.  Let those values guide your actions in order to avoid or, if necessary, halt discrimination.

The Training and Education Command Equal Opportunity Advisor, Master Sergeant Michael W. Wilson, can be reached at (703) 432-2472.  Additionally the FMTB-W Equal Opportunity Representative, LTJG Cristina Lucaterodiaz, can be reached at (760) 725-6217.
