Marines

All Marine students attending the Defense Information School are administratively assigned to Marine Detachment, Fort Meade and, regardless of rank or duration, must check in with the Marine Detachment on the report date specified in their orders.

The detachment is located at 8545 6th Armored Cavalry Road, Fort Meade, MD, directly adjacent to the Freedom Inn Dining Facility. The nearest airport is
Baltimore Washington International. Driving directions and shuttle information are available on the DINFOS website.

Students reporting during off-duty hours (Mon - Fri: 1700-0700 and Sat/Sun) must also report the following duty day to complete the check-in process.

Marine students must be at the schoolhouse no later than 0730 on the first training day of their course for class registration, badging, and course indoctrination.

Uniform of the day, Monday through Thursday, is the appropriate seasonal camouflaged uniform. Every Friday the appropriate service uniform (Bravos/Charlies) will be worn.

REPORTING

Entry-level students (enlisted Marines arriving from School of Infantry -East or -West or any initial MOS school)

Entry-level students must report in the Service Alpha uniform and be in possession of their Service Record Book, medical and dental records, and original orders.

All other students (Returning to DINFOS for non-MOS producing courses or the Public Affairs Qualification Course)

Report to the Marine Detachment in the uniform of the day with official orders. Marines arriving for training without official orders will be turned away.

BILLETING

All E5s and below, with the exception of those physically stationed at Ft. Meade, will be issued a barracks room and meal card for the duration of their course.  Per MCO 10110.47A, any Marine receiving ComRats will be suspended during this period.

Billeting accommodations consist of either two- or three-person rooms with a head and shower. Laundry facilities are available on site.

All officer and SNCO students will lodge at a local hotel with proper authorization and will receive a reporting endorsement that reflects the non-availability of government quarters. Fort Meade on-base lodging is the Candlewood Suites.

UNIFORMS

Entry-level students are required to bring all issued uniform items.

All students must bring their woodland Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform and the seasonal service uniform (Service “B” or “C”).

Public Affairs Qualification Course (PAQC), Joint Intermediate (JIPAC), and Joint Senior Public Affairs Courses (JSPAC) students must also bring the Service Alpha uniform.  Students attending JIPAC and JSPAC need to bring a suit and tie.

Extra combat boots, covers, and accessories (such as rank insignia, ribbons, badges, and devices) are highly recommended as Fort Meade does not carry a significant amount of Marine Corps uniform items.

TRANSPORTATION

Entry-level students are not authorized to bring, operate or ride in personally owned vehicles while at DINFOS. Officers and Marines returning to DINFOS for follow-on training are authorized to bring their privately owned vehicles to DINFOS provided they receive authorization from their parent command and the vehicle is properly licensed and tagged in accordance with installation regulations.
