Captain Jewelie Hartshorne Executive Officer Marine Aviation Training Support Squadron 1

Captain Jewelie D. Hartshorne reported to Recruit Training aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island.  Upon completion of Recruit Training, she attended Marine Occupational Specialty training where she received the MOS of 0431, Embarkation Specialist.

  In November 1999, she reported to Marine Communications Squadron 18 in Okinawa, Japan and served as the Embark Clerk.  In November of 2000, she reported to First Marine Expeditionary Force (IMEF), aboard Camp Pendleton, CA as a Maritime Prepositioning Force (MPF) Clerk.  In 2001, during her tour with IMEF, she participated in Operation Bright Star.  In 2003, she reported to Marine Tactical Air Control Group 38 at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar where she served as the Embark Non-commissioned Officer in Charge.  In 2003, she reported to Marine Tactical Air Control Squadron 38 as the Embark Non-commissioned Officer in Charge for the deployment to Operation Iraqi Freedom.

  Upon completion of her enlistment in 2004, she worked as a Social Worker for the Department of Human Services in Stilwell, OK while earning her Bachelor’s Degree.  She graduated from National University with a degree in Criminal Justice in May 2007.

  In July 2007, she reported to Officer Candidate School in Quantico, VA and received her commission on 17 August 2007, as a second lieutenant.  After completion of The Basic School she reported to the Aviation Supply Basic Qualification Course in Athens, GA and was designated a 6602, Aviation Supply Officer.  Upon completion of the course, she reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 13 aboard Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, AZ.

  While stationed at MALS-13, Captain Hartshorne served as the Squadron Support Division Officer, Marine Aircraft Group 13 Fiscal Officer and the Supply Response Division Officer.  In September 2011, Captain Hartshorne deployed to Afghanistan as an individual augment with IMEF as the Female Engagement Team Officer in Charge.  She returned to MALS-13 in August 2012, and received orders to Marine Aviation Training Support Squadron One at Naval Air Station Meridian, MS where she serves as the Executive Officer.

  Her personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with two stars), Combat Action Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal (with one star).
