SgtMaj Jason E. Patrick Sergeant Major Marine Corps Detachment Fort Leonard Wood

  Sergeant Major Jason E. Patrick enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 23 February 1988 and reported to recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA on 24 January 1989. Upon completion of recruit training on April 1989 as a PFC, he reported to MATSG-90 in Millington, TN for the Aviation Electricians Mate Course and graduated in October 1989. He was promoted to LCpl while attending the course in July of 1989. In November 1990, he attended the NAMTRA F/A-18 School at NAS Lemoore, CA.

  In February of 1990, LCpl Patrick reported to VMFA-235, at MCAS Kaneohe Bay, HI where he was trained as an F/A-18 Hornet Electrical Technician. In August of 1990, he deployed to Southwest Asia in support of OPERATIONS DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM. In June of 1992 he was promoted to Cpl.

  In June of 1993, Cpl Patrick reported to MAG-46, VMFA-134. He was promoted to Sgt in September of 1993 and assigned as the day crew leader for the work center. From there, he transferred to MAG-11, VMFAT-101.

  In September of 1996, he reported to MCRD San Diego, CA for Recruiting School. Upon graduation Sgt Patrick report to Recruiting Station Orange (County) in Irvine, CA. He was subsequently assigned to Recruiting Sub Station Redondo Beach, CA. In March of 1998, he was promoted to SSgt.

  In December of 1999, SSgt Patrick reported to VMFA-323. Upon his arrival, he was appointed the SNCOIC Electric Shop. In September of 2000, he was selected for assignment to Maintenance Control and subsequently earned his Safe for Flight Qualification. In March of 2001, he deployed aboard the USS Constellation for a Western Pacific deployment. The squadron spent three months in the Persian Gulf flying in support of OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH. It was then that SSgt Patrick was appointed as the Assistant Maintenance Control Chief. In April 2001, he was promoted to the rank of GySgt.

  In November of 2002, GySgt Patrick embarked on his second Western Pacific deployment aboard USS Constellation in support of OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH. GySgt Patrick was given the responsibility of serving as Flight Deck Coordinator. As a result of continued United Nations Security Council violations, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM ensued. During this major theater war, GySgt Patrick was in charge of all carrier flight deck operations for the squadron.

  In February of 2004, GySgt Patrick was promoted to the rank of 1stSgt and was assigned to Inspector-Instructor duty Port Hueneme, CA. In October 2007 he also assumed the duties as the Weapons Company 1stSgt. In May 2008, he was promoted to SgtMaj.

  In June 2008 SgtMaj Patrick assumed the duties as 2d Bn, 3d Mar, 3d MarDiv SgtMaj. The Battalion deployed to Afghanistan in May 2009 in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. Upon his return in December 2009, SgtMaj Patrick assumed the duties as MCAS Kaneohe Bay HI SgtMaj.

  On February 17th, 2011 SgtMaj Patrick assumed the duties as the Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 3, 3d Marine Aircraft Wing SgtMaj.

  November 9th, 2011 SgtMaj Patrick assumed the duties as VMFA 323 Death Rattlers SgtMaj.

  June 6th, 2014 SgtMaj Patrick assumes the duties as Marine Corps Detachment’s SgtMaj.

  SgtMaj Patrick’s personal awards include: Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of second award and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal
